What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Silly Fish Learning may collect data through processes and plugins on our website. This data could include your name and email address, or information collected via cookies including IP address, language, gender, age, and location.
If you are purchasing a product from our TpT store, you will be required to provide payment information. This data is collected by Teachers Pay Teachers and Silly Fish Learning do not have access to this information.
We will never ask for personal information such as bank accounts, social security or health information.
You can find further details of what specific data is collected below:
If you consent to join our mailing list via a pop-up, form or direct request, we will collect your name, email and IP address where available. This data is stored so that we may contact you with news, round-ups, and offers. We will not share your data with any third parties unless expressly consented.
You may unsubscribe from a mailing list at any time by following the link in our emails or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
When you contact us via any of our sites contact forms, your data is saved locally in case any errors occur and your message does not reach our email. Only data entered into the form fields will be recorded, along with the date and time of submission.
All stored data will be double checked and deleted monthly from the website. If you have applied to be a Featured Teacher, your data will be exported and saved remotely so that we can restore information if there is an error with your article. If you would ever like this information to be deleted, you can email email@example.com with the request and you will be sent confirmation when this information has been removed.
Unless permission is expressly granted, your data will not be added to any mailing lists or given to third parties. If you did not agree to join our mailing list, you will not be contacted for any reason other than in direct response to your message.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Google Analytics and MonsterInsights collect data so that we can see the demographics of our audience. This data may show us things like the kind of device you used to access our site, your global location, and if you are a returning reader. You can find more details of what data is collected on the Google Analytics website. This information helps us better understand who our audience are and how we can meet their needs.
It is against Google’s policies to send any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to their servers. We have taken steps to ensure your PII is not sent to Google and check every six months to ensure nothing has slipped through. Data that is collected by Google will be stored for 26 months and then automatically deleted.
Who we share your data with
While your data may be collected by services and plugins that we use (specified above), this information is stored on behalf of Silly Fish Learning for our use only.
We do not sell or share your personal information with any third party organizations unless permission is expressly granted. This permission may be given when opting into an offer with a Silly Fish Learning partner organization.
Featured Teachers can request for their website and social profiles to be shared, but we will not include your phone number or email address in the article. Those wishing to contact Featured Teachers via email must do so through Silly Fish Learning Ltd to ensure the privacy of our contributors.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If you sign up for our mailing list, your information will be saved indefinitely unless you opt-out of this service.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Information received via contact forms on our website is deleted on a monthly basis unless applying to be a Featured Teacher. Teacher Features are exported and saved remotely for an indefinite period in case of corruption of the original article. Contributors may request for this information to be deleted by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Information stored by Google Analytics is automatically deleted after 26 months.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
If you are concerned about any of the data stored about you through any of the services listed above, you can request detailed information about what is stored and specify if you would like it deleted by emailing email@example.com
Where we send your data
Most of your data will be stored via plugins on the website, but some of your data may be sent to MailChimp who provide our mailing list service or saved onto our company Dropbox storage.
Some of your data will be processed by Google Analytics but only data that does not contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Our website is hosted by GoDaddy.
